Black & White

12:30 am. Saturday night. Marcil & Sherbrooke, NDG. Randy, Steve and myself are driving, not speeding, not looking suspicious, just driving. A cop, with nothing better to do pulls us over. He gets out looking all camo and red hat and asks for Randy's license and registration. While Randy gets it out the cop asks "is this your car?", to which Randy responds "yes". The cop then goes back to his car to "review" the situation but really he was probably trying to figure out a ridiculous reason to pull us over, Since he hadn't told us yet! After coming up with one, the cop comes back to the car and says "excuse me sir can you please step out of the car so I can have a word with you." After a 10 minute conversation Randy gets back in to tell us that they are taking the car. And here's the best part, the reason.

Randy apparently had an outstanding ticket, which he wasn't aware of. The cop couldn't say when it was from, what was the offence or how much it was for, but since it was outstanding that he had to take the car. Here's where it kinda gets weirder. The cop didn't give Randy a ticket, and didn't take his license, which they normally do when they impound your car.

And to top it all off, Randy had been at city hall only 2 weeks before to renew his plates and no one said anything about an outstanding ticket. Huh, that's odd. You think it would have come up on their computer.

So they took Randy's car and there we were left wondering what the hell had just happened. I can't wait to find out how that one turns out.
